Departure by car at 8 o'clock west of Hanoi, you will follow the Red River to Son Tay. This route of 50km, crossing several villages, pagodas, temples, promotes contact with the population, you will discover the daily life of the local inhabitants, the culture of the Doai region (northern part of Ha Tay province). Where the red river begins to divide and the plain to grow into rice fields, is the village of Mong Phu. This hamlet has been classified "cultural village" for its red stone architecture and its seniority: the village pagoda, the oldest house is over 400 years old!

 

Then depart by private car to Thac Ba Lake with stops to see the manufacture of mats and curtains palm leaves. Thac Ba, more than 80km long, is the largest reservoir in northern Vietnam. The neighboring village, particularly authentic amidst rice fields, is still preserved from mass tourism.

After breakfast, the head of the family will take you on his boat to walk on the Thac Ba lake and for an hour and a half in a village of Dao. Then leave for Nghia Lo, arrival and installation at Phuong, a family of Thai, where you will spend the night.

After breakfast, you will take a short bike ride through Thais villages. Then departure for Mu Cang Chai (about 3 hours drive). On a day of good weather, you can discover unpublished landscapes of mountains and deep ravines all along the road, to the valley of Tu Le. It is inhabited by the ethnic black Thais and is famous for its beautiful rice terraces, which attract thousands of photographers and artists from Vietnam.

 

In the afternoon, climb the Khau Pha Pass, more than 2000m. The view is breathtaking from above, it is quite possible to ask for some photo stops. You will make a detour to visit a village of Hmongs and rice terraces of La Pan Tan, which have been classified as National Heritage of Vietnam.

Awakening to the first songs of the roosters. Breakfast and departure to Than Uyen along the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. The route will not cease to amaze you, the landscapes are of an exceptional beauty between valleys cultivated of tea and mountains adorned with rice terraces on their slope. Stop at Binh Lu, where you will visit a village Na Tam of Lu. Free lunch then resume the road to Sapa. Arrival and installation at the hotel, free time in Sapa.

Sapa is a rather touristy place, but the guide and the driver know some beautiful and authentic places still preserved from the tourist waves, in which they will lead you. After breakfast, departure for a beautiful hike of 3 hours to mountain villages. You will discover a nice little hamlet of H'Mong Blacks of Suoi Ho, then the villages of Ma Cha and Lu Khau. Breakfast in a local restaurant. You will visit an annex of the village school.

 

In the afternoon, you will continue your hike for 2 hours, to the village of Ta Phin, inhabited by the ethnic groups of Dzao Rouges and H'Mong Noirs. You will be welcomed at the inhabitant to share a moment of their daily life. The family will prepare a bath of medicinal herbs to relax after this day of walking. Dinner and night with red Dao.

After breakfast, you will drive to the weekly market of Can Cau (Saturday) or Bac Ha (Sunday), to meet the H'mong Bariolés, Nungs and Tay. The market stands in the middle of a mountainous circus very close to the Chinese border. The market is not only the place of exchange of goods, but also the place of socialization for the different ethnic groups of the region. It is a meeting at the end of the world in a wild setting of beauty. After the market, installation at the inhabitant. In the afternoon, stroll through colorful H'mong villages. In the morning you will visit a weekly market in the area (Can Cau on Saturday morning, Bac Ha on Sunday morning, Xin Chieng on Wednesday morning). You will then leave for a trek through colorful H'mong villages and rice terraces. This is an opportunity to make beautiful photos, to meet and discover directly the minority ethnic groups and their culture, like the H'mong Fleuris, who still wear the traditional costumes, colorful and typical. Lunch in the form of a picnic.

 

In the afternoon, you will continue your hike to the village of Ta Van Chu colorful H'mong to discover the daily life of this minority: mud houses, distillation of corn alcohol ... Dinner and overnight at the house capita. You can participate in the preparation of the meal with the family.

Then departure for Thong Nguyen, arrival at the ecological spring. Breakfast at the local restaurant where you can taste Banh Cuon, a local specialty (steamed rice cake stuffed with pork and black mushrooms). You will then visit the market of Bao Lac, meeting the Tay, Nung, H'mong, but especially black Lolo coming down from the high mountains to the market only once every 5 days according to the lunar calendar. In turn, you will descend from the Lo Lo Mountains to Ba Be Lake, classified as "National Park" as the last bastion of the primary jungle. Great panoramas are available to you throughout the descent. The Ba Be National Park has been recognized as a historical and cultural remains, with Ba Be Lake as a tourist attraction. Located at an altitude of 178m and between the Ngan Son and Song Gam mountain ranges, the lake extends over 500ha and has a depth of 20 to 30m. There are caves and underground springs.

 

Awakening early by the roosters' songs. After breakfast, take a boat cruise on Ba Be Lake. It is not by chance that the site is nicknamed "Halong Bay in the mountains": the freshwater lake Ba Be was ranked among the 20 most beautiful in the world.You will make a stop at the cave of Puong and some villages of ethnic minorities. After breakfast, you will leave for Cao Bang. After about 2 hours of mountain road, you will arrive at Col Gio to meet black Zdao ethnic groups returning home, baskets of cassava or wood hanging on their backs. Lunch in Cao Bang, then departure to the Chinese border by climbing the Ma Phuc Pass. From the top, you can admire a beautiful landscape of rice fields dotted between limestone pistons, as in postcards. You will then visit the village of Phuc Sen of the Nung ethnic group that is still very authentic to its traditions and excels in craft trades: weaving, forging ... Departure at 7:30 for Halong Bay. Arrived at Hong Gai around noon, you will embark on a traditional sailing junk. The crew will offer you a welcome drink and announce your schedule as the junk crosses Halong Bay towards South West towards Lan Ha Bay. After breakfast, you will discover with your own eyes the beauty and charm of Lan Ha Bay with its small wild beaches, tunnels and floating fishing villages. We descend on a boat for a ride rowed to the CA tunnel. Back to the junk, continue the cruise along thousands of cliffs emerge from the waves, you will feel like you are in a world of fossilized animals millions of years ago. The junk runs through a floating village of fishermen who have been there for generations. After breakfast, you will take a bike ride: crossing villages and rice paddies to Thung Nang (less touristy than Tam Coc). You will take the boat alongside the villagers for a nice walk on the river. You will cycle to the Emerald Pagoda. Back to Tam Coc. Free lunch. The driver will then take you to visit the Hang Mua cave, with a magnificent panoramic view of the area, before going to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of the country in the 10th century, where are the two temples of King Dinh and King The previous one.
